10/01/2008 CAA Training Services
Linda Donley - SHD/OWD
The CAA program is to focus on short-term training, defined as less than one year in duration. Local areas may approve training using providers included in the Ohio Eligible Training Provider Online system or other training providers. However, all CAA training must lead to degrees, licenses, or industry recognized certificates or credentials. Selection of the training providers is determined at the local level. Training requirements and limitations are as follows: a) Training may not exceed the limit of $6000 per participant, b) WIA ITAs may not be utilized to supplement the cost of the CAA, c) Training must lead to attainment of a degree, a license, or an industry-recognized certificate or credential, d) Workers may re-apply for a CAA if failure to complete the program was due to hardship. Hardship will be determined at the local level. Reference WIATL 32-B(Ohio's Career Advancement Accounts)

02/28/2008 Searching in ETPO
Scoti-Help-Desk
There seems to be some confusion about how the Public Search site works for ETPO. When a caseworker (or a WIA participant) does a search by program name, and the search result shows a provider with a link to the schools website, the searcher must then go to the providers website to look and see what program(s) the school offers. Not all programs are available at all schools. Here’s an example of the problem that is occurring : If you go to the ETPO site: http://scoti.ohio.gov/etpo and select Search for Provider and then type in Program name: Licensed Practical Nurse and then also select county: SENECA and check the box to include post-secondary educational institutions, you will get 2 providers: Heidelberg College and Tiffin University with links to their websites. The search results will show as, Search Results for Counties, - “Seneca, OH” – Program “Licensed Practical Nurse” however, neither of these schools actually offer a Licensed Practical Nurse program. The results you are getting, since there are no providers in Seneca county that have Licensed Practical Nurse programs entered in the ETPO system, are all the automatically approved post-secondary educational institutions for Seneca County. The rule of thumb is: When doing a search by program name, and the results show a provider with a web link--you must go to that providers web site to see what programs the provider offers.
